The purpose of this post is entirely to make me feel better.
My beloved adopted United Kingdom was attacked yesterday in an unprecendented coordinated terrorist attack on its capital, London, a place I lived for 8 years.
Four explosions, three on the subway, one on a bus, at places I know very well.
London, and its people, will survive. They do well under pressure. They survived Hitler's bombardment with cheerful resilience. They will survive this with much more aplomb.
However, the main thing is that the terrorists made a stupid, stupid mistake. I mean, to attack a country where the most influential World Leaders are meeting for peace talks? How stupid is that?
The only result of this will be the oppposite of what their aims are, and that is, all the World Leaders who are there right now in England, will band together in total resolve to rid the World of this blight. They don't need to call a special meeting to discuss it. They are all already there!
It is like the terrorists said to themselves...."Hmmm.....what is the worst possible place and time we can instigate a terrorist attack - ah yes, the very place where it is most likely to cause complete hatred for our cause and ultimately be the death of us all ~ London, of course, on July 7th! "
The terrorist who thought THIS one up is probably going to be blessed in Heaven with 77 naked "Darwin Award" virgins.
The terrorist on the bus at Tavistock Place however, will get 777 naked "Darwin Award" virgins for having missed his subway train.

yay! i was waiting for your post, miss geisha, to attest to your wellness. so thanks for posting.
if the terrorists just wanted to be left alone and escape and survive, yes, i think they picked the worst possible time to attack. but they don't want to be left alone and forgotten. they want to destroy the western world of infidels, and spread fear throughout.
and you are right.. maybe it will strengthen the resolve of the UK against the terrorists, but it might weaken other nations'. spain, for example, pulled all its troops out of iraq after its subway was bombed.
mr lawnmower, sounds like you have some conspiracy theories involving big business.. i want to hear! :) conspiracy theories are always fun, and mr bush sure does leave a lot of room in his administration to accommodate them.
Like I said, I just posted that piece of rubbish to make me feel better.
Thanks for commenting, guys!
pardon me but, you're a Japanese in London?
Actually, Mr Fortran, I was born in Japan, was brought up in Vanuatu, obtained my degree in Bahrain, did my research in Vladivostock, and now have a job in Victoria, capital of Hong Kong.
I did not realise that a Japanese girl was in any way strange in the cosmological capital that is London!
But that is an "SEP" to quote Douglas Addams.
It seems I was unusually perceptive for once. This was published by AP A short time ago:
"One theory suggested the attacker may have intended to leave his bomb on the subway but was unable to board because his coconspirators had already shut the system down."
